Angel’s Christmas Tree

Several years ago one very interesting project came into being in Russia.  We call it the “Angel’s Christmas Tree”.  The point of this project is that before Christmas, local members of Christian churches visit prisons and offer to help prisoners send their Christmas greetings to their children.  If the prisoners agree to do it, then we buy Christmas gifts for these kids using voluntary donations from the churches and individuals.  Then, volunteers visit the kids and wish them Merry Christmas in the name of their parents.

The Prison Ministry “Chaplain” has been an active participant in this project for several years already. And this year we did not stand aside. Thanks to your donations, we bought gifts for 25 children of prisoners and 16 children of guards.  We then visited them at their homes and in the name of their parents wished them Merry Christmas. We made photos and video during our visits so that we could show them to their parents who remain in prison. From our experience, we know that it is a good way to soften the hearts of the parents and make them ready to hear the Gospel.
